Unit Overview
This chapter focuses on oral communication skills and their importance to your success at work. You will learn how to improve your listening and speaking skills for both communicating with co workers and giving formal presentations.
Regardless of the career your choose, you will want to be confident about your listening and speaking skills. These oral communication skills will play a role in many aspects of your responsibilities. You will also need to express yourself clearly to others at work. Even though presentations may not be a part of your daily work, occasionally you may need to present information to others, formally or informally.
The situation may require you to speak to a small group of your peers or to a large audience. Regardless of the size of your audience and whether the presentation is formal or informal, you must keep your goals and your listeners' interests in mind as you develop your presentation.
